The CW has dropped the first trailer for the new DC Comics series Black Lightning, and - not surprisingly - it looks pretty great.

According to the schedule released at the CW Upfront presentation, Black Lightning will be held for mid-season.

Although CW's DC czar Greg Berlanti is involved in the project, the show apparently will not be part of the CW's Berlantiverse, a shared DC universe that features Supergirl, the Martian Manhunter, the Flash, the Green Arrow, as well as the time traveling team the Legends of Tomorrow.

"We do not aim to do a five-way crossover", Pedowitz told reporters.

Which is encouraging, because the two young women, in the comics, eventually become the heroes known as Thunder and Lightning. But it's also a lot of action, showing that Black Lightning is gonna kick major butt.

Keep your eyes peeled - as the trailer says, Black Lightning's back! The CW's Mark Pedowitz confirmed this on Thursday, while also saying there would be no five-way crossover.

Jefferson Pierce is a man wrestling with a secret. He noted that part of the reason is logistics: Black Lightning films in Atlanta, while the other four shows shoot in Vancouver, Canada, making a crossover between the five stories logistically hard. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. We're going to have something unique with "Black Lightning, ' which is a little bit more than a superhero situation". However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad.

The majority black cast also stars Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams. Pierce is already an experienced crime fighter with a violent past. Television. Salim Akil is directing and wrote the Black Lightning pilot.
