Real Madrid rejects Man U's £52.4m bid for Morata

Those are the words Jose Mourinho used to convince Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata into a move to Old Trafford, according to a report in the Spanish press.

In an interview with Calciomercato, Lopez did little to dispel the ongoing links with United and even suggested that Morata would welcome a move to English football.

With the World Cup in Russian Federation to take place next summer, Morata's chances of playing for Spain would surely be boosted if he was stepping out for United each week rather than sitting on Madrid's bench.

8 - No other player has scored more goals for Spain than Alvaro Morata since the start of 2016 (eight, the same as David Silva).

However, despite starting just 16 games in all competitions last season, Morata still managed to score 20 goals so he'd certainly provide a much-needed threat in front of goal if he does end up joining United.

And reports in Spain earlier today said that he had been persuaded to move to United by his worldwide team-mates David De Gea and Ander Herrera.

Morata has allegedly been in contact with De Gea and Herrera, and has been persuaded that a move to Old Trafford is the right decision following their time together on global duty.

The Blancos striker's future has looked uncertain over the last couple of months and his time in the Spanish capital looks set to end, with United the overwhelming favourites to secure his signature.

"Manchester United is a great club, a very interesting option", Juanma Lopez said.

"That I can not tell, we'll see", he added.

"Yes [Milan have tried to sign Morata], there have been frequent contacts with us until a few days ago, I can confirm", Lopez said. José Mourinho called the Spaniard to convince him to leave Spain and join Manchester United and the call was successful.
