Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is a newly rich man thanks to the five-year, $125 million contract he signed to remain in black and silver, but don't expect to see him spending his wealth on caviar-stuffed lobster.

During the press conference, Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie did not provide exact details in terms of how Carr's deal will help with further contract extensions for Mack and Jackson. "I'll probably get some Chick-fil-A".

Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack likely will be next to get a new contract along with offensive guard Gabe Jackson.

Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts receives $24.6 million per year, just ahead of fellow quarterbacks Carson Palmer ($24.35 million) of the Arizona Cardinals, Drew Brees (24.25 million) of the New Orleans Saints and Kirk Cousins ($23.9 million) of the Washington Redskins.

Before signing the record deal, Carr was slated to earn less than $1 million next season. But, he also has a $30.2 million guarantee for injury only at signing.

Carr said he was in contact with agent Tim Younger every step of the way to make sure it all came together to benefit the team. I didn't want to hurt our team; that's the last thing I would ever want to do.

For Carr, the question now becomes whether his teammates will be as charitable when it's their turn to get paid, consciously taking less to help the team keep more players or saying, "Screw this. So, hopefully we didn't That's the last thing that I meant to do and that's kind of why I was so involved".
