An Air India Express flight from Dubai to Mangalore "momentarily" skidded off the runway due to poor weather conditions, according to Indian media outlets. The flight 814 which was carrying 185 passengers on board, veered off the runway slightly while touching down. Luckily its skilled pilots were able to immediately bring the Boeing 737 back to the "tabletop" runway's centre line after the "momentary" skidding.
In May 2010, an Air India Express plane from Dubai had overshot the runway and plunged down the cliff into a wooded valley, killing 158 people.
"Just as the aircraft was about to touch down, there was sudden gust of wind and heavy rain". "Post arrival inspection of the aircraft revealed no damages", he said. The aircraft skidded to the right momentarily after the touch down. He confirmed that there was no discomfort or injury to any passenger.
Air India Flight Safety Department has set up the enquiry into the incident.
According to Kumar, the aircraft did not suffer any damage and that all 186 passengers on-board the aircraft were safe.
