Police Charge Tampa Man in Connection with Store Owner's Murder

Tampa Police have arrested a Tampa man and charged him in the shooting death of a store owner early Sunday afternoon during an armed robbery. Tampa police said they talked with witnesses and reviewed video from the store and quickly identified Sheffield as a possible suspect.

At approximately 12:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at the 29th Street Store, located at 2802 N. 29th Street.

When they arrived, police found the body of Mohamoud Ibrahim, 60.

Christopher Antonio Sheffield, 24, of Tampa, is charged with one count each of first degree murder, robbery with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

Christopher Sheffield, 24, was arrested at 4 a.m. after detectives were told he may have been hiding in an apartment complex.
