That announcement is regarding the game's next Season 2 character and, as has been promised throughout the year, it is indeed a brand new character to the Street Fighter series.
It can be recalled that Abigail was originally one of the members of the bulky bruisers in the Mad Gear crew in "Final Fight", but players were highly unlikely to cross paths with the giant until towards the conclusion of the game. Here's the "Street Fighter 5" Abigail gameplay trailer, which gives us a brief glimpse of the Metro City Bay Area stage as well.
To celebrate three decades of dudes setting each other's flesh aflame with Hadoukens, Capcom is releasing a retro stage and three old school outfits for Street Fighter V on July 25.
Abigail originates from the classic 1989 beat 'em up Final Fight, in which he plays the role of the final boss of the second-to-last stage.
Street Fighter V was released on the PS4 and PC. The date will also see the arrival of Street Fighter V retro costumes, specifically for Alex, Ibuki, and Juri. The former can be purchased for $9.99 or as part of the $25 Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Premier Pass, which also includes access to the Capcom Cup 2017 and Capcom Pro Tour 2017, a monthly challenge to acquire in-game money, formal outfits for Ryu and Ken, and a Guile costume designed by Capcom Cup victor Du "NuckleDu" Dang.
As for who's next, the leaked roster for Season 2 has two names you might want to read up on - Zeku and Menat (the female fortune teller from Ed's story).
