Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: Our focus completely on Premier League

Postado Agosto 06, 2017

One of the keys to Arsenal's season will be how they contend with the Europa League, with the unique Thursday-Sunday scheduling that it entails.

And Wenger says Qatar's presence and the resources it possesses has tipped the scales in PSG's favour when compared to Europe's other clubs.

Arsenal will be seeded meaning that they will likely be preparing for long trips to Sheriff Tiraspol, Fastav Zlin and Zorya Luhansk this autumn.

In fact star players Alexis Sanchez and Laurent Koscielny both missed the game. In the Europa League if we can afford sometimes to rest some players we will do it.

"When you think that Trevor Francis was the first £1m player and that looked unreasonable, that shows you how much distance and how far we have come, how big football has become".

The Premier League win over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in February then provided impetus for the title run-in.

Manchester United finished sixth previous year but will be playing in the Champions League after beating Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final in May - a reward Wenger has never been keen on. "That's why, when we voted in Geneva [for the route into the Champions League], I was always against it".

Arsenal were said to have been interested in signing Dembele last summer after he had a breakthrough season with Rennes.

Sanchez is believed to be less than thrilled at the prospect of spending a season without Champions League football, having finished fifth in the Premier League with the Gunners, last season. The 48-year-old, one of the most decorated players in Italian football history with Lecce, Juventus and the national team, won three successive Serie A titles as Juventus boss and spent three years as Italy's head coach before moving into the Chelsea hotseat.

"He will be here for this season and if we manage to do it for more seasons, we will do it as well". Wenger admitted that Perez is set to leave the club in the coming weeks, and Arsenal have told him he may leave if they receive an offer worth €15m for him.

Sanchez has been linked with a move away from the Emirates throughout the majority of the summer transfer window, but it appears that Wenger expects the Chilean to contribute to his 85 point target.

Conte said: "It was a pity to lose the game, to lose the FA Cup final against Arsenal after a really great season for us".

We saw it again yesterday as his Arsenal went behind in the 46th minute, despite being the better side up until Victor Moses struck.
