Nice confirmed a deal with the 33-year-old on Sunday, subject to the successful completion of a medical a day later.
The Netherlands worldwide has been a free agent since his four-year spell with Turkey Super Lig Galatasaray outfit came to an abrupt end last month when his contract - initially set to expire next summer - was terminated by mutual consent.
He started his career at Dutch giants Ajax before moves to Real Madrid, Inter and Galatasaray.
Speculation that the Netherlands worldwide was close to joining Nice intensified when his agent Guido Albers was spotted at the club's Allianz Arena for their Champions League clash with Ajax late last month.
However, he now is set to join the club, where he will team up with Mario Balotelli and Dante.
Sneijder must sign for Nice by midnight on Monday to be eligible to take on Maurizio Sarri's men. A victory in that tie will see Nice through to the group stage of the competition.
