The Texans' defensive end underwent surgery on a herniated disc after he re-injured his neck in Week 3 last season.

"Everybody that's able to play in the game will play in the game", he added, via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Wednesday the Carolina Panthers kick off their 2017 preseason schedule when they host the Houston Texans. For many players, they will be suiting up for the very first National Football League game, which is obviously an exciting prospect for some. "You have injuries, so, 80-plus guys you have to get into the game [and] you need to evaluate". O'Brien said "yeah" when asked if Watt will suit up.

Spending his entire National Football League career in Houston, a tenure that began back in 2011-12, the veteran defensive end appeared in just three regular-season games for the playoff-bound Texans in 2016-17. For his professional career as a whole, he has registered 379 total tackles, an even 76 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, 13 fumble recoveries, one interception and 45 pass defenses across 83 regular-season outings.
