Aubameyang hat-trick as Dortmund, Bayern advance in German Cup

Bayern Munich didn't have to break too much of a sweat as they easily dispatch Chemnitzer 5-0 in the first round of the DFB Pokal. Lewandowski grabbed his second on the hour mark, tapping in from close range after fine work from record signing Corentin Tolisso, before being replaced by the returning Arjen Robben on 63 minutes.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the hero on the day, as Borussia Dortmund thrashed Rielasingen 4-0 in their DFB Pokal encounter.

With victory assured, Franck Ribery whipped a direct free-kick into the bottom corner in the 79th minute, and Mats Hummels headed in Bayern's fifth just before the final whistle.

It's not often that the referee is the center of attention before a Bayern Munich game.

"The most important thing today was reaching the second round", Lewandowski told Sky Sport. It is always important to score a few goals and make it easier for ourselves. "But we got the job done and we are in the next round".

"We tried to keep playing at a high pace", he said.

Marc Bartra scored their opener before Aubameyang's treble, but Ousmane Dembele - who is a target for Barcelona - did not play.

Nils Petersen opened the scoring for Freiburg in a 2-1 win at his father's team, fourth-tier Germania Halberstadt. Robert Lewandowski's goal separated the sides at half-time, before a goal fest followed in the second half.

Nadiem Amiri scored the only goal in the 56th minute as Hoffenheim won at RW Erfurt.

Darmstadt, relegated from the top flight last season, fell 3-1 to Jahn Regensburg, recently promoted to the second tier.

Ribery himself stepped up to take it, and managed to get the ball up and over the wall, leaving the Chemnitzer goalkeeper with no chance of saving it to give Bayern a 4-0 lead.
