Gomez, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, had been listed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list in connection to the 2011 murder of a fellow MS-13 member.

The FBI has said earlier that Gomez was trying to become a full-fledged member of the local branch of the transnational gang when the killing happened.

The FBI says that Gomez is an individual from the MS-13 pack that has as of late gotten new examination after President Donald Trump pledged to get serious about the universal gathering as a feature of his organization's movement strategies, following more than twelve posse related murders on Long Island.

"The apprehension of Walter Yovany Gomez is a prime example of the close coordination between the vigilant public and the hard working men and women of law enforcement", stated Timothy Gallagher, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Newark Division.

Walter Yovany Gomez is wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of a man in Plainfield, New Jersey, in May 2011.

As indicated by a Federal Bureau of Investigation news discharge, a government capture warrant was issued for Gomez in the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, Newark, in September 2013, after he was accused of brutal wrongdoing in help of racketeering, which conveys a compulsory life sentence.

A $100,000 reward had been offered for the arrest of Gomez, who was considered armed and risky. However, he managed to get away after jumping out of a second story window.

He added that Gomez is expected to be extradited to Newark and face charges of murder and racketeering. "They rape and they rob", Trump said. "They are there right now because of weak political leadership ... and in many cases police who are not allowed to do their job because they have a pathetic mayor or a mayor who does not know what's going on".
