Match-winner Giroud can still do a job for Arsenal, says Wenger

Alexandre Lacazette makes his competitive debut for Arsenal in this evening's Premier League clash against Leicester City.

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger insists match-winner Olivier Giroud will stay at the club this season.

Substitute Olivier Giroud netted a dramatic victor a few minutes later with a superb header but Carragher does not think the game should have got to that point.

"Giroud? He's fantastic", Wenger said of the France worldwide, who usually started on the bench last season and had been linked with a move away from The Emirates.

Giroud had scored 12 Premier League goals in just 11 starts last season, but Lacazette was selected for Arsenal's opener and netted inside two minutes.

"It's an wonderful opportunity for him", Henry told Sky Sports.

"It was one of the great days".

Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho is also linked to the La Liga giants but it is thought that Barcelona are prepared to claim both players.

"It's simple, in every game he is stronger since he joined us", Wenger said.

Thierry Henry believes Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho move to the East Midlands is a good signing for Leicester City. "We're working on other options but we're relaxed given our squad is 90 per cent complete", added Monchi in quotes reported on the Roma website.

"You have to look at the 3-3 goal, we said it on commentary", Carragher said on Sky Sports after the game.

The Frenchman, who has been at the club since 1996, has been given a chance to turn things around despite calls for his head from disgruntled Arsenal fans waiting for a first league title under his stewardship since he led them to the crown in 2004.
