Rodgers reveals he may try to sign a striker for Astana tie

"I think it helps that he's an absolute Celtic daft". But it's certainly a team we will go and be aggressive with to get a good result.

"We got the better of them over the two games past year with a last-minute victor".

"The big striker up front is a handful with his size, awkwardness".

"I hope nerves are not a factor, I don't think it will be".

"Sometimes there's a wee bit of anxiety in the crowd, of course, when you're so close". But if there's an unavailability and it's consistent, then I need to seriously look at that.

"I will definitely have to look at it (signing a new striker)".

He said: "He and Jozo Simunovic have been excellent". There is a different feel when you play for the club you support.

"He's not having it all his own way, opponents are making him defend".

"He gives you that extra dimension when you have the ball because he plays in there like a midfielder". I think we had that in the last round as well, everyone talked about the pressure of going out to Rosenborg, then we made 750-odd passes in the game, were risky and played with really good composure.

Rodgers insists he isn't anxious about the prospect of losing on-form Kieran Tierney to potential suitors during the transfer window.

"He loves being here, he knows he's developing".

"He's still got improvements that he will make". I don't get a sense from him other than that he's in a good place, a happy place.

The ongoing contract stand-off between Stuart Armstrong and the club seems to be taking its toll on the player, and manager Brendan Rodgers has conceded the issue is coming to a head. Players love football but they don't necessarily love the club. Kieran Tierney is at left-back, while Mikael Lustig is right-back.

"Listen, there may come a time when you are that good and you are young, with so much potential, there is always that danger [of a bid] but we will cross that bridge when it comes to it".
