Steph Novacek an executive director of Nebraska's regional Red Cross, said, "Give blood, because a lot of our blood drives down in Texas, where we'd be collecting blood are not able to, and so, we can step it up here locally and donate blood, and support in that aspect".
The Red Cross prepared tens of thousands of ready-to-eat meals, "truckloads" of kitchen supplies and more than 40 Red Cross emergency response vehicles are ready to go.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides worldwide humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families.

Arizona Red Cross volunteers were a part of relief efforts for Tropical Storm Harvey in Texas as the storm wreaked havoc on the region.

Fairfax County's urban search and rescue team is sending one of its swift water rescue teams to Texas to help.
An official with Colorado Task Force 1 said 45 firefighters from Colorado are in southeastern Texas. More personnel were slated to leave Sunday. The firefighters come from agencies in Denver, Aurora, Castle Rock, Greeley and elsewhere.
