Ride-hailing app Uber on Thursday launched several driver- and rider-focused safety initiatives - Share Trip feature for drivers and driver de-duplication for riders - under its UberSAFE campaign. These features include Share Trip feature for drivers and Driver Deduplication.
"Now, to further enhance Uber's technological safety features, we are launching Social Connect and Driver Share My Trip". It gives drivers a way to let their friends or family members know, not just their whereabouts, but also when to expect them home. These features have been rolled out in Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow and will be fully rolled out across India by end of this month.
This initiative is in addition to existing initiatives like Real Time ID Check that was introduced in March this year along with a comprehensive onboarding process and background checks, the company said. In some cases, the driver partner may have forgotten the password to the account and created a new one.
Uber said that its technology will help identify the duplicate accounts, which will be temporarily paused.
"Whether you are behind the wheel or sitting in the back seat, Uber's commitment to safety for everyone is unwavering. We'll continue to welcome driver-partner feedback and prioritise the safety of all those using the Uber app, while regularly tracking the success of new features and updates". Uber will only use the link to Facebook to verify a user and check for a legitimate Facebook profile.
He said, "Every single day, it remains our endeavor to provide a seamless experience to our users, and the UberSAFE campaign is aimed at streamlining our efforts in this direction". The technology is what, which can manage transparency between rider and driver so that our user can believe on our partners and feel safe.
Apurva Dalal, Head of Engineering, Uber India, said, "At Uber, being innovative means leading the way, leaning into new technologies to improve safety in new ways".
