Harry Dean Stanton, the veteran American actor who ballasted generations of independent and cult films, has died aged 91.
The shambling, craggy-face performer had a decades-long career that included memorable turns in "Alien", "Paris, Texas" and "Cool Hand Luke".

Stanton continued to work steadily through the 1990s and 2000s, averaging two or three films a year - of variable quality, it has to be admitted. He most recently appeared as Carl Rodd in the Showtime revival of Twin Peaks.
Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Escape from New York, Christine, Repo Man, Red Dawn, Paris Texas, Wild at Heart, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Big Love, the list goes on and on.
According to TMZ, Stanton never married, but he is survived by some family members.
Harry's loyal fans will be able to see his final acting stint in Lucy, scheduled to air this month.
