Broward Schools Set To Reopen Monday; 3 Still With Power Problems

Castillo joined with City of Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez on the first day of school August 21 to welcome students to the newest Miami Dade County Public School: Dr. Toni Bilbao Preparatory Academy at 8905 N.W. 114th Ave.in Doral.

"Following Miami-Dade County Public Schools'.meeting, we continue to be optimistic about a Monday re-opening for our schools", MDPS Superintendent Alberto Carvalho tweeted.

He also mentioned via Twitter that some areas inside some schools may not have air conditioning. Many schools were littered with debris and were without power.

Richmond Heights Middle School will not reopen because of power issues.

Each school's principal will decide on the resumption of extracurricular activities, including athletics.

Broward County Public Schools announced late Sunday morning that power has been restored to all its schools, including the ones with little or no power on Saturday (Attucks Middle School, Pompano Beach Middle School, Fort Lauderdale Piper High School), allowing all schools and officers to operate on a normal schedule Monday.
