The two-time Olympic gold medallist was set to fight for the first time on American soil this weekend on the undercard of one of the biggest shows of the year - Gennady Golovkin vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez but her clash with Alexandra Vlajk has been called off at the last minute.
Adams had been due to get in the ring at 3pm in Las Vegas - or 11pm in the United Kingdom - a few hours before the middleweight title clash between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.
Vlajk failed her pre-fight medical, meaning that the fight with Leeds' Adams had to be pulled from the bill.
"I'm devastated that I'm not boxing tonight, due to a problem with my opponent, thank you everyone for your support and kind messages", Adams tweeted.
Adams would have been making her debut in the United States and was looking forward to fighting on a high-profile bill. "It may never come true and it's nice to think I'm able to achieve my dreams". We are definitely changing the game for the better'.
