Armed police were deployed to the City of London this morning, with witnesses reporting a "serious investigation" is under way.
"We first received reports of a suspicious package at 1.37pm on Tuesday", said a City police spokesperson.
In an updated statement roughly an hour later, the police wrote: "We can confirm an incident involving a item found at Leadenhall Market (EC3) has now been resolved".
Police confirmed they were investigating reports of a suspicious package on Wilson Street, but the package has now been deemed to be "non-suspicious".
During the evacuation the London Market Group warned insurance professionals about visiting Lloyd's in a tweet.
Leadenhall Market in the City of London was put in lockdown over a suspicious item - a bag which had been left unattended in a shop.
They added: "Cordons have been now been lifted and officers will help facilitate the return of traders to the market".
