Troopers with Colorado State Patrol have closed both lanes of SB I-25 past the S. Academy exit Tuesday afternoon for a fatal crash.
The crash was reported at milemarker 134.5 and it was also slowing traffic in the northbound lanes.
All lanes reopened 7 p.m. the driver was identified as 28-year-old Shara Cardenas of Colorado Springs. According to the Colorado State Patrol, Cardenas drifted onto the left shoulder and the front left of her vehicle hit the guardrail. She then collided with the hillside and rolled over before coming to rest near the top of the hill.
According to officials, Cardenas was ejected from the auto and was pronounced dead at the scene. A three-year-old child, who was restrained in a child safety seat, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
