Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska issued a statement Wednesday night that read, "Mr. President: Words spoken by the President of the United States matter". "Are you tonight recanting of the oath you took on January 20 to preserve, protect, and defend the First Amendment?". "People should look into it".
Trump also tweeted Wednesday several times on the subject, including: "With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License?"
The President's tweets are apparently in response to reports from NBC that Trump's Secretary of State Rex Tillerson wanted to resign from his post this summer and called Trump a "moron". In February 2016, he wrote, "Mr. Trump's relentless focus is on dividing Americans, and on tearing down rather than building back up this glorious nation". "This isn't normal and it's beneath the dignity of your office".
