As of now, Rango and Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski is set to direct from Josh Zetumer's script.

Mark your calendars (in mechanical pencil, maybe, rather thank ink) for February 14, 2019 as the date to see Remy Le Beau step up to movie lead.

After years of shuffling directors and release dates, Fox announced Thursday that Pirates of the Caribbean filmmaker Gore Verbinski is set to direct the X-Men spin-off, which will be released on February 14, 2019.

It's good news for fans who have been following the movie's progress, which has been plagued with delays.

The working title was found in a recent production listing, and was used in 2015 when Rupert Wyatt was attached direct. Production is likely targeted to begin in early 2018, so casting news should be expected soon.

Fox has scheduled three movies in its expanding "X-Men" universe for 2018, with "New Mutants" set to open on April 13, "Deadpool 2" on June 1, and "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" on November 2. "We were trying to do some things that we actually weren't allowed to do, and they just smashed through the doors, so now we're rethinking it". Do you think it'll finally hit theaters or is it doomed to a fate worse than The Last Stand's continuity?
