The Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani fell out with his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Neymar earlier this season and is heading towards the exit door despite clearing the air with the world's most expensive footballer.
And the Uruguayan hitman has started out the current campaign in equally devastating fashion, racking up 11 goals in 10 appearances between the league and Champions League.
However, as has been widely covered in the media, Cavani's start to the season with Unai Emery's side has not been without its problems, with the 30-year-old having clashed with summer signing Neymar on multiple occasions.
It was later reported that Cavani and Neymar had sorted their differences out, although reports to the contrary suggested their relationship is irreparable.
Spanish publication Don Balon also stated that Edinson Cavani has signified his interest to leave France for a move to the Premier League.
However, a move to the Etihad is, for a number of reasons, highly unlikely.
However, with Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero already at the club, Cavani may find the route to first team football is nowhere near as clear as he now enjoys in Paris.
In addition, City are expected to target Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez once the transfer window re-opens in January, potentially adding yet another top-class attacking addition to the ranks for the Sky Blues.
