Woman arrested over hit-and-run which left 13yo girl fighting for life

The girl was hit by a dark BMW while she was riding her bicycle near the corner of Bell and Sussex streets in Coburg, just after 8:00pm on Sunday.

A 41-year-old Sunshine North woman has handed herself in to police over a hit-run crash that critically injured a 13-year-old girl after discovering a vehicle in Braybrook they believe was involved in the incident.

The girl remains in a critical condition.

Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding a hit-run collision that has left a motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries in Mitcham this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

It is believed the stolen X5 BMW did not stop, and fled the scene.

A dark grey BMW 1 series E87, believed to be the auto involved, was seized by police late on Tuesday from an alley behind shops in Sunshine North in Melbourne's west, about 30 minutes' drive from where it hit the teenager in Coburg.
