A mother has pleaded not guilty to murder in the second degree in connection with the drowning death of her 10-day-old son.
Police say officers went to a home on Locust Street at around 2:30 Monday afternoon for the report of an unresponsive infant. The infant was then transported to Rochester General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police responded to a call concerning an unresponsive child Monday and arrived at Mitchell's residence around 2:30 p.m.
The felony complaint says Mitchell intentionally drowned her 10-day-old son, Jeremiah, and left him there for one to two hours.
Police say Mitchell also has a seven-year-old child, who's now in the care of a relative.
Police say Mitchell also has a 7-year-old child, who's now in the care of a relative. Court has since been adjourned but was set to resume for a preliminary hearing Friday morning.
