This year's theme is "150 years of Christmas" in honour of Canada's 150th birthday.
The Greenport Fire Department and the Village of Greenport would like to see that change.
For the first time in more than 20 years, Hamilton's Santa Claus parade will run on a new route in the downtown core. "We are proud that for over 50 years, Santa has allowed us to help manage the hundreds of thousands of special letters he receives from boys and girls across the country".
"I think it's going to be a real family-friendly thing, combining the two events together to make it one big celebration", said Mayor George Hubbard, one of the organizers.
Last year's parade attracted over 30,000 spectators.
Each fire company is being asked to decorate their trucks for the parade and new activities will be added to the celebration.
Ahead of the Santa Claus parade this weekend, Mrs. Claus is in town checking to make sure everything is ready. Winter posters created by elementary students will be displayed in the carousel house and the carousel will be open for rides.
"We will continue to have the Santa Claus Parade in the downtown area and accessible to all".
The parade starts at 4 p.m.at Canadian Tire Financial Services on East Main Street, following the thoroughfare to the Civic Square.
