Manchester City are the latest club to be credited with an interest in signing Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka in the summer but will face stern competition from the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Tottenham for the Germany international's services.
The 22-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season.
Goretzka looks increasingly likely to leave Schalke when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign and reportedly has designs on a switch to the Camp Nou, with Barca hoping to clinch him on a free transfer in the summer.
Reports in Spain suggest that Goretzka has already agreed a deal to join Liverpool as a replacement for the outgoing Emre Can.

The Citizens have been linked with moves for a number of midfielders over the past few weeks, with Yaya Toure and Fernandinho both entering the twilight of their respective careers, and Ilkay Gundogan struggling to regain full fitness.
As such, Goretzka is viewed as an ideal alternative, with City also said to be keeping tabs on the German's global teammate Emre Can, who's contract with Liverpool is also set to expire next summer.
