Natural disaster of 5.5 magnitude hits Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand; epicentre East Dehradun

Tremors were also felt in Tamil Nadu's Chennai and Uttarakhand's Chamoli, indicating that the seismic event occured pan-India.

A magnitude 5.5 natural disaster tremors hit parts of Uttarakhand Wednesday. Tremors were also felt in different parts of the country, including Haryana, UP and Himachal Pradesh.

The epicenter of the natural disaster was reported from 121 km east of Dehradun and it struck at 8:59 pm.

According to the Centre for Seismology, an natural disaster of 5.5 magnitude was reported in Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand.

According to the IMD's National Seismological Centre, the quake occurred at 8:49 pm. There was no immediate loss of life or property reported.

As per reports, soon after the quake people evacuated their buildings to safer ground.
