The South Carolina Gamecocks football team has fired offensive coordinator Kurt Roper.

"After much deliberation, I have chose to go in a different direction with the offensive coordinator position on our football team", Muschamp said in a statement.

Offensive coordinator Kurt Roper, who doubled as the quarterbacks coach and presided over a struggling Gamecocks offense, was sacked on Wednesday, the school announced in a news release. "We appreciate Kurt's contributions to our program and to the University and wish him all the best". Wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon will serve as the team's play-caller for the MI game. That's 14.7 yards fewer than MI, which checked in at No. 101.

The South Carolina Gamecocks (8-4, 5-3 SEC) will face the Michigan Wolverines (8-4, 5-4 Big Ten) in the 2018 Outback Bowl on Monday, Jan. 1.

But much like the Wolverines, this SC team is young. He has college coaching experience dating back to 1996.
