Man accused of setting woman on fire in Jamestown

Police in Jamestown responded to a report of a woman being set on fire Tuesday night.

Police officers arrived at the scene of 210 Thayer street Tuesday night at 11:40 pm to find the 27 year old female victim with severe burns to her face, head, and torso.

According to police, the victim had been doused in a flammable substance before she was set on fire.

The woman was taken to UPMC WCA Hospital before being airlifted to ECMC.

Luis Castro-Mojica, 37, was taken into custody and was in the Jamestown jail awaiting arraignment on a first-degree assault charge Wednesday. He is now waiting arraignment on the charges of Assault in the 1st degree.

Castro-Mojica, who was taken into custody Tuesday night, had been wanted by Jamestown police on three warrants stemming from a domestic incident in September.

Additional charges were expected to be filed against Castro-Mojica.
