UNITED have reportedly been offered Inter Milan's Joao Mario in a straight swap deal for Juan Mata.
The 24-year-old has made 11 Serie A appearances this season, making five assists, but the player has struggled to live up to expectations at the San Siro.
On the Old Trafford side, the target would be Joao Mario, who, following his expensive £36m move from Sporting CP in 2016, hasn't exactly impressed in Serie A. Inter though refused to sell the player for any less than the €55million price tag on his head.
With Paris Saint-Germain also keen on Joao Mario, and their ability to offer Javier Pastore in exchange, it will be interesting to see who gets preferential treatment.
The midfield, in the absence of ace man Paul Pogba, cost Manchester United few points in the League with a few hopeless displays as a result of which they are eights points behind the league leaders.
However, it's said that a deal could yet go through - but with Henrikh Mkhitaryan taking Mata's place instead.
