New Mexico high school on lockdown following shooting

Authorities swarmed Aztec High School in Aztec, New Mexico, Thursday after a report of an active shooter.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office is telling residents to stay clear of the area.

San Juan County posted to Facebook about the school being evacuated but did not confirm the shooting. Parents who have children at the school have been told to head to 516 and Mesa Verde near the church to pick them up, according to KRQE News 13. No injuries had been confirmed, but police were asking people to avoid the area. The shooter is reportedly in custody.

Farmington Municipal Schools wrote on Facebook all schools in the district went into preventive lockdown due to the incident. "Your students' safety is our primary concern", the statement said. Both Bloomfield and Farmington High Schools are on lockdown.
