Pitt Head Football Coach Pat Narduzzi Signs 7-Year Contract Extension

Postado Dezembro 07, 2017

The University of Pittsburgh and head football coach Pat Narduzzi reached an agreement on a seven-year contract extension to keep him with the Panthers through the 2024 season.

That's left some to argue the first three years of his tenure at Pitt have been underwhelming, but Narduzzi picked up signature victories against the No. 2 team in the country both this year and last season. Thanks to Chancellor Gallagher and Heather, we are all definitely moving in the same direction with a shared vision for excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

"We're thrilled Pat Narduzzi is our head football coach", Lyke said. "My family and I are extremely appreciative of the opportunity to be part of this great university and city". Coach Narduzzi is a tireless worker, dynamic leader and passionate about building outstanding relationships with our student-athletes and everyone connected to our Pitt family. "He and his staff are fully dedicated to building a national-caliber program the right way, on and off the field". He is 21-17 with the Panthers but went just 5-7 in 2017 and missed a bowl game.

Stay with KDKA for more on this developing story. In 2016, Pitt knocked off the eventual national champions Clemson Tigers in SC, and then in the final week of this season, the Panthers defeated the previously undefeated Miami Hurricanes, 24-14. Pitt has also sent 14 players to the National Football League during Narduzzi's tenure, including five in 2017. 247Sports notes Pitt now ranks last in the 14-team ACC for its 2018 recruiting class. Narduzzi's defense-which limited the Hurricanes to regular-season lows in total yards (232) and points (14)-utilized only one senior starter in the final month of the campaign. "We are really enthusiastic about the team we have coming back for 2018".
