Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "I sent a message to Santi to wish him well after the surgery and he said, "Look, I have to start again from zero".
Cazorla, who hasn't played for nearly 14 months because of his injury hell, revealed to fans via Twitter last month that he had needed to go under the surgeon's knife yet again - the Spaniard has already endured a skin graft in an attempt to help the wound on his ankle heal.
Little did he know that he would face a nightmare of infections, skin grafts and necrosis of his Achilles tendon, leaving him in limbo over just when, or if, he will return to action.
The future of Arsenal midfield maestro Santi Cazorla has been cast even further into doubt after the Spaniard was forced to undergo further surgery on his troublesome achilles.
Reported by the Evening Standard, the Frenchman paints a bleak picture. "What he has gone through, this guy, is unbelievable", Wenger said. We speak about players being happy or not happy, that is a real pain because it is really, really sad but unfortunately he has to start again from zero.
'That means if all goes well he has to wait until he can run and after when he starts to run it will be at least six weeks to come back to training. "When he will be able to start to run again, I don't know". I was hopeful of January, but after this setback certainly now not before February'.
However, his return to the team has been constantly put back and a comeback next month was ruled out last week when he had a ninth operation.
