An announcement to this effect was made by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday when she wrote on Twitter "Our govt will be regularising 60,000 daily wagers and casual labourers in various departments in J&K to provide sustainable livelihood to those who need it the most".

As many as 61000 daily wagers engaged in different government departments have been struggling for their regularization for past two decades.

Drabu had informed the Legislative Assembly that the State government would implement the 7th Pay Commission recommendations after a year during which it would regularize all the daily wagers in the State.

On October 23, this year, the state cabinet under the chairpersonship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti accepted the report of the high level committee headed by the Chief Secretary laying out a roadmap for absorption/regularization of Casual/Seasonal Labourers/ Daily Rated Workers so as to ensure sustainable livelihood to thousands of persons and engagements which were made from time to time.

"Hard work & dedication must always be recognised & appreciated", she said, in her tweet.

Meanwhile, Employees Joint Action Committee-Kashmir president Aijaz Khan hailed the government's decision.
