Gomes signs professional contract

Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes has penned his first professional deal with the Premier League club.

The club seem delighted to have kept Gomes who stressed that the club's history of promoting players from their academy to the first-team was a chief reason behind Gomes' decision to sign his first professional contract at Old Trafford.

He was also part of England's Under-17 squad that defeated Spain in the final to win the 2017 Fifa World Cup in India. United have the tradition of giving opportunities to the academy graduates in the first-team and that seems to continue here.

But United have finally tied him down and fans can now rest easy as the starlet isn't likely to leave Old Trafford anytime soon.

Angel Gomes signs his first professional contract with Manchester United.

"We have the Under-19s in between and he can always drop down into the youth team when big games come along that are challenging for the club and for him". He even made his senior debut for the club against Crystal Palace in the PL last May but only featured for 2 minutes.

"I am still young but am looking forward to continuing my development with the help of the coaching staff and I will take every opportunity that comes my way".

Gomes' father Gil Gomes revealed in October that "all the greats of Europe" are following his son's progress. The Red Devils' coach is that Gomes has committed his future to the club.

Gomes has been part of United's youth set up since the age of six and became United's youngest first-team player for more than half a century when he came on as a substitute against Palace on the final day of the Premier League season in May.

United manager Jose Mourinho, who gave Gomes his first-team debut last season said: "I am delighted that Angel has signed his first professional contract with the club".
