The team announced the move on Friday.
The Bills were fine on the ground this past season behind running back LeSean McCoy, the team averaging the sixth-best rushing attack with 126.1 yards per game.
Since Week 10 and including the wild-card playoff loss at Jacksonville, the Bills scored four offensive touchdowns. But McCoy took the Green Bay Packers' offensive coordinator job and was sacked midseason. There are some early candidates, including former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who has western NY ties. General manager Brandon Beane, speaking on WGR 550, hardly gave Taylor a vote of confidence, saying that the Bills are "still in the process" of finding a franchise quarterback.
Bills coach McDermott was non-committal when discussing any coaching staff decisions during an end of the season news conference on Tuesday. "We've got to be more consistent in a lot of areas and that's part of the evaluation process, [is] how do we do that?"
"We're building this thing together", McDermott said then. The play resulted in an offensive pass interference penalty and three points instead of seven. We will go through a lot of those scenarios leading up into the draft, but you do have to have one final voice to make that call.
The offensive performance against the Jaguars was emblematic of the Bills' season, marked by negligible production and questionable play-calling. "That's probably one of them", McDermott said after the game.
Dennison was Kubiak's offensive coordinator in Houston from 2010-13 and had a previous stint as the Broncos' offensive coordinator from 2006-08.
Dennison was challenged by injuries at wide receiver and left tackle and changes at quarterback, with first-year head coach Sean McDermott going to rookie Nathan Peterman before reverting to Tyrod Taylor.
