Ozil could stay at Arsenal, but Sanchez likely to leave

It appears that a conclusion to the transfer saga is nearing after Arsene Wenger left Sanchez out of his squad for Sunday's trip to the south coast, despite playing a full part in training on Friday and not suffering any obvious injury.

The runaway Premier League leaders are reluctant to meet Arsenal's £35million valuation of the 29-year-old and are now not prepared to pay the £5m fee Sanchez's agent is demanding for felicitating any deal.

"Without those two, they don't have a star and I think a deal for Mkhitaryan would be good for the club".

United is said to have presented Arsenal with a bigger offer than City, and although Mourinho claims it was not in the club's plans to sign players in January, he acknowledged that fantastic opportunities are worth pursuing whenever they present themselves.

"Let's say we have three targets in the summer - a defender, a midfielder and an attacking player".

But nothing is quite so straightforward during transfer season and Manchester United threw a spanner in the works by making a late swoop for the Chilean.

Mourinho's United are understood to have thrown their hat into the ring, bidding around £25 million to trump City's £20 million offer as they seek to bolster their forward options and deny their bitter rivals.

Liverpool have entered the battle to sign Alexis Sanchez with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Premier League leaders have always been linked with signing the Chilean forward, and had a reported £60m offer for him accepted by Arsenal on deadline day last summer.

"Alexis is an exceptional football player, he's a world-class player and if that happens (and he leaves) we have to find a different balance in the team". We take a look at how United can lineup with Sanchez in our side.

"These guys want to make money but they want to win trophies as well, so it is a combination of things".

Leroy Sane insists he has nothing to fear from Alexis Sanchez's potential move to Manchester City.

The bad blood between the United manager and Wenger is well known but if Arsenal board rubber stamp his move to United, surely it will be the end for Wenger and his fragile truce with the Gooners hierarchy.
