If you thought Cenk Tosun was going to quietly disappear into the depths of Everton " s "massive' squad after the latest round of criticism from Sam Allardyce, you will be sadly mistaken.

The 27-year-old found the net against Crystal Palace on Saturday in a crucial win over Crystal Palace, as well as setting up Gylfi Sigurdsson for the opening goal, and looks set to continue keeping Tosun and young talent Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of the team for the time being.

The Senegal worldwide was only a bit-part player at the beginning of the campaign but has featured in all but one of Everton's last eight Premier League games, starting the last three.

"We have got to try and be patient and because the team is winning without him we can be patient at the moment. His contribution on Saturday helped us and, as a team, we now have to keep up that home form".

Niasse has started just eight Premier League games this season, including each of the last three, but only Wayne Rooney (10) has scored more goals than his return of seven. "The one thing we need to get better is the away results".

The striker will be looking forward to increasing his tally when Everton travel to Vicarage Road to confront Watford in their next league game on February 24.
