Atlantic City High School was placed on a lockdown Wednesday after a threat was made against the school. The incident began after a student reported the potential threat to a staff member. Police, who were already at the school as an added layer of security for the National Walkout Day, were told that weapons may be hidden outside the school, so the school went into lockdown. The school district posted on its Facebook page that one of the boys was with the administration and the other boy was at home with dad.
It is our understanding that several high schools on the central coast received similar threats, regardless we take all of these threats seriously and investigate them fully.
The lockdown was initiated shortly before 9:30AM March 14, 2018; it was lifted about 11AM.
All students and staff at San Leandro High School are safe.
District officials notified all families in the San Leandro Unified School District of the lockdown. "We made a decision to work with the school and clear the grounds today - just as a precaution", said Lt. Benabou.
