Gunmen in the northern Nigerian state of Kano killed a policeman and abducted a Germany citizen on Monday as they travelled to a construction site, police said.
Confirming the incident, Kano police command spokesperson, Magaji Majia said five men in a vehicle ambushed and opened fire on another vehicle conveying the engineer and his escort.
"They shot the Police at Sabon Titi, a scarcely populated area in Kano, killing the Police and abducted the White man, "the eyewitness who pleaded for an anonymity said".
He identified the officer killed as a police sergeant and confirmed the name of the slain German.
The police commissioner CP Rabiu Yusuf has since deployed powerful team of operatives and detectives to cordon the axis with a view to arresting the culprits and rescue the victim. "Manhunt of the abductors is ongoing", he said.

According to a report by Premium Times, the gunmen in a black VW Golf shot and killed the police officer as he was protecting the engineer, a staff of Dantata and Sawoe construction company.
