Police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted an eight-year-old girl after climbing through her window in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
The spine-chilling CCTV footage was captured in Sydney at 2.52am native time on Monday and exhibits the sinister house invader creeping again out two minutes later earlier than closing the window and fleeing into the evening.
After the man made his escape, the girl told her mother what had happened, and she immediately called the police.
The child and family are "extremely distressed" by the incident, Superintendent Karen McCarthy told reporters on Wednesday.
"The young victim and her family have shown extreme courage in coming forward to the police, their welfare is paramount".
As we speak detectives from The State Crime Command's Baby Abuse and Intercourse Crimes Squad have joined East Seashores police and different officers to scour the streets to analyze the perverted assault.
The man in question is said to be aged in his 50s, was wearing a dark hooded jumper and spoke with an Australian OR English accent.
Anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage of the area in the past two weeks is urged to hand it into police.
