The two super clubs of Spain favor the respective FIFA-initiated changes, reported MARCA newspaper of Spain.
Manchester United and Liverpool will reportedly be among the 12 European clubs asked to take part in FIFA's new Club World Cup tournament in June 2021.
If the tournament was to go ahead then it would take place in the June of every fourth year and would mean the end of the current low-profile winter competition that already takes place and the Confederations Cup. Through his Twitter account, President Temer spoke about the World Cup after the announcement of the final list of the 23 players summoned for the national team earlier in the day, reports Xinhua news agency.
"This is part of the whole discussion around the worldwide match calendar, so if there is no annual Club World Cup and no Confederations Cup, it may not mean more matches for the players".
Infantino says he has an offer of $25 billion over 12 years for the two competitions from a group of investors, which the Financial Times has identified as SoftBank from Japan and the governments of China and Saudi Arabia.
As relayed by Swettenham, UEFA is said to be anxious the tournament would take some of the spotlight away from the Champions League, which now brings together the biggest sides in Europe.
An emergency Federation Internationale de Football Association meeting is expected to be held early next month to rubber stamp the tournament.
