Rousey was stunned by Jax herself walking to her to challenge the professional wrestler and she was happy to have a shot at the WWE women's title.
It was announced on Monday afternoon that WWE Raw Woman's Champion Nia Jax will defend her title against Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank next month.
WWE now faces the task of transforming the cordial first meeting between Nia Jax and Rousey into a compelling storyline over the next few weeks - and many fans on Twitter are questioning why Rousey is wrestling for a title so soon. However, only at Charlotte Flair's insistence Rousey accepted the big match.
Rousey made a point in her response to Nia Jax when she said, "There are other women who deserve the opportunity".
The one speedbump. Ronda's wrestling career is taking off in a huge way.
The match will be only Rousey's second for the company, following her debut appearance at WrestleMania, where she teamed with Kurt Angle to beat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. She has held the belt since defeating Alexa Bliss at WrestleMania 34. Till now, she has just appeared on small segments on WWE Raw post her Wrestlemania match and now, she is all set for her singles debut, which will be for the highest honour in women's division on Raw. Placing her in the ring with Nia Jax over a more polished talent like Flair so early in her career is a risk, but maybe Rousey can outperform expectations once again.
