At the moment, there are a plethora of tariff plans from top telcos even under Rs 200 offering unlimited voice calls, daily data limit per day and SMS benefit as well.
Telecom operators in the country have kept on refreshing their prepaid plans since the entry of Reliance Jio to the Indian market. The Jio pack offers additional benefits of a free subscription to Jio apps. But the bigger question is how well BSNL's new plan competes against the offers from Reliance Jio and Airtel. Apart from this, the BSNL signature caller tune will automatically get activated for free post recharge of the pack. The company is also offering free PRBT tune (caller ring tones) to its subscriber. Once you exhaust you 1 GB data, BSNL will charge for data usage as per its standard rates. This plan was aimed at the audience with more calling needs than data consumption requirements. With a validity of 28 days, the new BSNL Rs 118 plan is available in telecom circles including Kolkata, Tamil Nadu, Chennai for prepaid subscribers.
According to telecom talk report, BSNL with Rs 118 plan is offering 1GB data in 3G network for a validity period of 28 days. This remains unchanged from the other packs offered by the telco.
For example, if you are using the Rs. 199 pack that presently offers 1.4GB data per day, you'll no longer need to recharge for a separate pack once you exceed the 1.4GB quota and you will receive data at a speed of 128Kbps after surpassing the daily limit. On the other hand, Reliance Jio's Rs 98-plan offers 2GB of 4G VoLTE data with unlimited calls-local, STD and national roaming- across India along with 300 free SMS for a period of 28 days. BSNL has recently announced new plans doubling the FUP data for three of its FTTH plans with no change in prices. The catch is that the plan is limited to only a few circles now.
