Shaqiri coy on Liverpool links

I'm looking forward to seeing him in a Stoke City shirt, as I'm sure our supporters are too.

The Switzerland global has been linked with a cut-price summer move from Stoke with the former Bayern Munich winger available for just £12million, due to a clause in his contract, following the Potters relegation last season.

Liverpool are in the market for attacking reinforcements as Klopp needs more depth behind the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane next season if the Merseysiders are to compete on all fronts.

Liverpool FC have already completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho this summer from Monaco as Klopp looks to build a team capable of winning the Premier League next season.

Liverpool have stolen a march on Tottenham after opening talks with the agent of Xherdan Shaqiri ahead of a £13.5m swoop for the Stoke attacker, according to the Mirror.

Now, following three seasons with the Potters, Shaqiri is ready to depart the club in order to continue his career in the Premier League, and Liverpool have been heavily tipped to land their man this time round.

The 26-year-old is now on worldwide duty with Switzerland ahead of the World Cup and he's apparently eager to find a new club before the tournament starts.

As long as Shaqiri's demands are not obscene, there appears every possibility that this move could happen.

When asked what he though about Liverpool as a club he responded by laughing and asking the interviewer why he was talking about Liverpool.

Told that it has been reported he is close to joining the Reds, Shaqiri said: "I can't tell you anything right now". 'I think my agents take care of my future.

"I am focusing on the national team right now".

I personally think he was being very tactical in not directly answering the reporter's questions and it may well be that a move to Anfield is being put together.
