"Salah is training individually under the supervision of the team's medical staff while the Pharaohs are holding their second training session in Grozny", reads a statement from the Egyptian Football Association's official website.

The former Roma star is fighting to be fit for Egypt's 2018 World Cup opener against Uruguay.

Egyptian National Team Manager Ihab Leheita also told press he hopes for Salah to play at the Urguay match, but a final decision has not been reached yet.

"Even if Salah is at his best, it is going to be hard for Egypt to get out of this group, in their first World Cup since 1990". "We hope he will be with us for the Uruguay match".

Salah teased the camera with a suggestive wink as speculation mounts regarding whether he will be fit enough in time for Egypt's crunch opening game against Uruguay on Friday.

The Egypt global enjoyed a stellar debut season at Anfield, scoring 44 goals and registering 14 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions.

The South American side is expected to top their group, and Lawrenson believes that it will be hard for Egypt to advance to the round of 16, predicting hosts Russian Federation to finish behind Uruguay.

Nonetheless, in an interview Egypt's managing director Ehab Lehita admitted that while Salah is making good progress, he can not confirm whether or not he will be fit to play by the time the game kicks off.

"From what I've been told, this is unlikely to get done before the World Cup, if at all".
