A Hamas spokesman said that closing the crossing point was "a new crime against humanity added to the black record of the Israeli occupation against our Palestinian people and our people in the Gaza Strip". Israel said some humanitarian goods would still be allowed through the terminal.

Israel and Islamist movement Hamas, which runs the Gaza Strip, have fought three wars since 2008.

By which Hamas means Israel must not slap the dog that bites its hand. "I will not go into details", he added.

On Tuesday, the IDF stopped a Palestinian boat that attempted to breach Israel's naval blockade, which creates a six nautical mile limit off the Gazan coast beyond which Palestinian boats are prohibited from sailing.

Israel is ramping up its crackdown on the Islamic terror group Hamas.

Israeli news outlet Ynet said that the fishing zone outside of Gaza would be curtailed to six miles from land, citing a statement by the Israeli Defense Forces.

Only a day earlier, Qatari envoy Mohammed al-Emadi, who has been working behind the scenes to ease tensions in Gaza, suggested in an interview that Palestinians would stop protests and sending incendiary kites if Israel were to ease the siege and allow 5,000 Palestinians from Gaza to obtain work permits for Israel. "The regional and worldwide silence on the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip for more than twelve years has encouraged the Israeli Occupation to continue its criminal actions in clear violation of human rights and global law". Israeli authorities say that the firebombs have set fire to 7,000 acres of forest and farmland in southern Israel.

Palestinian Hamas police on boats prepare the Gaza seaport for fishing boats to attempt to sail for Europe carrying people including students and medical patients unable to leave through overland crossings, as a protest against the Israeli blockade on Gaza, Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

Hamas, which has fought three wars with Israel since 2008, called on the global community to intervene immediately to prevent what it called a "new crime against humanity". During the first march, 16 Palestinians were killed and hundreds were wounded.

Under the blockade, which was put in place in 2007, Palestinians are forbidden to travel more than 11 kilometers (seven miles) from the Gaza shore.
