There has always been rumors that Kylie Jenner's Kylie Cosmetics (the brand that launched the OG lip kit and a million copycats) was on its way to being a billion-dollar business, and now it appears that historic milestone is closer than ever. Her famous sister Kim Kardashian West is only worth $350 million by comparison.
Forbes' Natalie Robehmed details how Kylie Cosmetics has found success both by harnessing Jenner's enormous social media following and slashing costs by outsourcing labor. I have such easy access to my fans and my customers'.
In addition to bringing in millions from her families' reality shows and many more millions from product endorsement deals, Forbes estimates her booming makeup company, Kylie Cosmetics, is worth almost $800 million. Using its standard formulation, Forbes values the company at $800 million, and Kylie is the sole owner. With her Puma deal, television shows Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Life of Kylie, and other endorsement deals, $900 million is probably a conservative guess at Jenner's fortune.
According to the outlet, Jenner has amassed $900 million dollars since launching the brand less than three years ago, which makes her the youngest person on the fourth annual ranking of America's Richest Self-Made Women.
However, Forbes noted that Kylie Cosmetics' growth has started to taper.
"I said, 'I'm ready to put up my own money".
And let's not sleep on this, her momager Kris Jenner no doubt is set for a hefty chunk of the change. "I turned to makeup to help me feel more confident". While she became an Instagram sensation for over-lining her lips, opportunity really struck when she admitted to getting lip fillers in 2015. (In 2015, she admitted to getting temporary ones.) So, the reality star made a decision to capitalize on everyone's obsession. "I don't want to do it with anyone else, '" Jenner said, adding that she used $250,000 of her savings from past modeling gigs to make her first 15,000 lip kits. Forbes reports that revenue grew just 7% in 2017, with lip-kit revenue dropping an estimated 35%.
Reflecting on the future, Jenner said she plans on working on Kyle Cosmetics "forever" noting that maybe one day she'll "pass this on to" daughter Stormi "if she's into it".
