Liverpool goalkeeper's nightmare 2018 season continues, back with another howler in friendly

Loris Karius was given a vote of confidence by Jurgen Klopp at the start of Liverpool's pre-season, as he was backed by his boss following his calamitous performance in the Champions League final, where he gifted Real Madrid two goals, but Karius made another glaring goalkeeping error in the Reds pre-season friendly at Tranmere Rovers this evening.

Liverpool were leading 3-0 before the German keeper fumbled a free-kick that was hit straight at him, allowing Jonny Smith to slot the ball home.

Karius, who cost Liverpool dearly with a pair of terrible mistakes in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, spilled Ollie Norburn's free-kick and Jonny Smith scored on the rebound. "Mistakes will happen. I don't like it, you don't like it, he doesn't like it but they do happen so let's carry on and make the best of all these situations to learn from it".

Does Jurgen Klopp need to make a move in the transfer window to replace Karius or should he continue to put his faith in the German?

"It [criticism] will probably happen for a while until he has a few fantastic games, that is how the situation is", he said.

Liverpool were at least able to reflect on a second win in the space of four days, as first-half goals from Rafa Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana saw them past a spirited Tranmere.

Loris Karius has dropped another clanger while playing for Liverpool.

. "I would say the second one, but we don't talk about that".

"First half was obviously good. That's the situation - 3-2, nobody injured and everybody had 45 minutes [of] intensity That's what we wanted".
